Greetings local foods enthusiasts,
Please write a brief story or narrative about your challenges with local foods. This may be that you can’t find your favorite local foods all together in the grocery store, or it may be that you don’t like getting up on Saturday mornings to go get it. No story is too small or too big, so please write in and tell us your story.

I would like to offer a personal thought! If someone gave me a grocery cart and told me to go fill it full of local foods at my nearby grocery store, I know I couldn’t. Even though I know my store carries several local products, I do think it is often difficult to pin point where the products are in the store. Does anyone else have this problem?
Regards,
Kayla

While it is easy to get discouraged with any movement, I think it is counter-productive to focus on this negativity. It is such an exciting time and there are so many excellent people involved, I’d much rather talk about them.
I pretty easily find well over half, and often full meals that I can buy locally. And it tastes SOOO much better than anything I ever find at a resturant. Accept Pepe’s! He serves local foods on his menu and does wonderful things with them! (I’m sure there are others as well!)
Plus the people are wonderful. Everyone has a story to tell, and is very passionate about the food they are producing.

Crystal,
Thank you for your post! I agree, it is a wonderful time for local foods, and there is so much positivity around the local foods movement. The NLFN wants consumers to have an opportunity to express challenges that they face in finding local foods. I know there are some barriers and by identifying these barriers the NLFN will be better able to help. Thanks again for your very insightful feedback!
